How to maintain the LED display screen in humid weather?
With the coming of the new year, Shenzhen's return to the south weather is coming, when all walls,floors and windows covered with water drops and it last weeks or months. In such humidity and moisture weather, how to maintain the LED display screen?
1. What is the return to the south weather?
Time: The return to the south weather usually comes at the winter and spring every year (mostly from February to April)
Process: Due to the strong southwest warm and humid air flow, the temperature rises and the humidity rises, and then a warm and humid weather phenomenon appears on the walls, floors and even objects in residents' homes.
Region: The return to the south is a unique weather feature in the coastal areas of South China, especially in South China (Guangdong Province, Guangxi Province, etc.).
2. Typical regions and distribution characteristics
The phenomenon of the return of the south wind is particularly serious in southern China, which is related to the fact that the area is close to the sea and the air is humid. When the return of the south wind occurs, the air humidity is close to saturation, and the relative humidity is always maintained at around 100%. The walls and even the ground will "suddenly", and the scene is wet everywhere. Thick fog is the most characteristic phenomenon of the "return of the south wind".
3. Occurrence conditions
Generally, the formation of the return of the south wind must meet at least two conditions:
① The daily average temperature for more than 3 consecutive days must be lower than 14℃;
② The temperature suddenly warms up and the humidity increases.
4. Hazards to LED display screens
In an environment with increased humidity, water vapor will be generated on the surface of some LED display screens. If the water vapor stays on the screen for a long time and penetrates into the inside of the lamp beads, it will cause problems such as dimming of the lamp beads, short circuits, open circuits, and damage to the lamp body, affecting users' daily use.
5. How to Protect LED Video Wall in the Humidity Weather?
Prevention 1—Indoor LED Display
1. Reasonable ventilation
a. Ventilation allows the water vapor attached to the screen to evaporate quickly, reducing the relative humidity of the indoor environment;
b. Avoid ventilation in windless and humid weather, which will increase the indoor humidity;
c. Ventilation should be carried out in clear weather and relatively dry air. (Doors and windows should be closed at night to prevent the LED screen from getting damp due to moisture resorption)
2. Physical dehumidification
a. It is necessary to place a dehumidifier indoors to effectively reduce the moisture in the air;
b. If the air conditioner is installed around the LED display, you may want to turn on the air conditioner dehumidification mode. (If there is an air conditioner in front of and behind the screen, the air conditioners must be turned on and off synchronously, and the setting mode temperature must be consistent, otherwise the surface of the LED display will produce condensation water due to the temperature difference, increasing the humidity of the screen)
3.Keep LED screen Turning On
a. When the ambient humidity is 10%-65% RH, try to ensure that the LED display is turned on at least once a day, and each time it works normally for more than 4 hours;
b. When the ambient humidity is higher than 65% RH, "proper ventilation" and "physical dehumidification" should be taken in advance, and the LED display should work normally for more than 8 hours a day;
c. Turn on the power of the LED display, turn off the sending card, splicing controller and other external devices to put the LED display in standby mode, so that the standby low-power and low-power operation can generate a small amount of heat to prevent water vapor from forming water droplets and prevent the screen from getting damp. (If there are flowers in front of the LED display, prevent the flowers from being watered and splashing on the screen, causing damage to the lamp beads)
Prevention 2—Outdoor LED Display
1.Regular cleaning
The dust attached to the inside and outside of the LED display screen must be cleaned regularly, which can significantly improve the heat dissipation efficiency of the screen and reduce the attachment of water vapor.
2. Key waterproofing
a. During use, the PCB board, power supply, power cord and other components of the LED display are more likely to be oxidized and corroded due to moisture; during the production process of the LED display, the PCB board must be treated with anti-corrosion, such as coating the surface with three-proof paint, and accessories such as the power supply and power cord must also be selected;
b. At the construction site, the structural design should be "combined with prevention and exhaust"; after the structure is determined, the sealing strip material with hollow bubble tube structure, small compression permanent deformation rate, and large elongation at break can be considered according to the structural characteristics; after the sealing strip material is selected, the appropriate contact surface and contact force are designed according to its characteristics to squeeze the sealing strip to a dense state.
3. Always turn on the LED Display Screen
a. When the ambient humidity is 10%-85% RH, turn on the LED display at least once a day, and work normally for more than 2 hours each time;
b. When the ambient humidity is higher than 90% RH, use the air conditioner or fan on the back of the screen to dehumidify the environment and ensure that the display works normally for more than 2 hours a day.
Prevention 3—LED Modules & Spare Parts
1. Ventilation and Dryness
a. The storage environment of LED modules and spare parts needs to be equipped with temperature and humidity monitors. The environment must be kept ventilated and dry, and the humidity must be controlled below 60%RH. Do not allow humid air to gather in the warehouse;
2. Avoid contact
a. When it is south windy, humid and rainy, the walls and the ground are prone to condensation. When storing LED modules, they need to be raised with pallets or other objects. They should not be in direct contact with the ground or walls to avoid water droplets on the walls and the ground;
3. Physical dehumidification
a. After opening the pack, the LED module needs to be repackaged and placed in appropriate desiccant for moisture-proof and dehumidification. It is best to place an industrial dehumidifier in the storage warehouse;
How to save a flooded LED display?
- Send photos of the LED display screen's wading position, the front and back of the screen, and the air conditioning outlet and screen to Jekaz LED after-sales staff for analysis and treatment measures;

Gently wipe the screen's wading area with a clean, lint-free absorbent towel or rag to absorb moisture; the air conditioner in front and behind the screen operates in 7×24-hour dehumidification mode, and the air conditioning outlet cannot blow air toward the screen; add a dehumidifier and a fan in front of the screen for dehumidification; -
3. Use a fan or other tools to completely dry the damp LED display screen at the fastest speed and enter the aging stage:
Day 1:the screen brightness is adjusted to 10%, the video is aged, and the number of bad pixels is recorded;
Day 2: the screen brightness is adjusted to 30%, the video is aged, and the number of bad pixels is recorded;
Day 3: the screen brightness is adjusted to 60%, the video is aged, and the number of bad pixels is recorded;
Day 4:the screen brightness is adjusted to 80%, the 150 gray scale white screen is aged, and the number of bad pixels is recorded;
Day 5: the screen brightness is adjusted to 100%, the 200 gray scale white screen is aged, and the number of bad pixels is recorded; (*On the fourth and fifth days, ensure that the screen is powered off once every 2 hours, for 1 hour each time. The screen video is aged at night, and the power can be turned off if there is no one on duty.)
After the aging of the LED display is completed, a comprehensive evaluation is conducted, and the on-site problems can be solved through maintenance, and personnel are arranged for professional maintenance and coating treatment; after completion, it should be repeatedly tested and aged until it is stable.
