When installing and using the LED screen, have you done these details?

The LED display project is a huge system engineering project. It requires not only comprehensive consideration in the product manufacturing process, but also every detail in daily installation and use to ensure long-term normal display of the screen and extend the life of the display.

Common problems during screen installation

But in daily life, we often ignore various precautions, which may result in the screen not lighting up at best, or even damage components or even cause major accidents such as fire!

Therefore, both manufacturers and terminal service providers should provide strict training and guidance to relevant installation users to ensure the safety of installers and users while avoiding damage to the screen.

1. LED large screens are installed outdoors and often exposed to the sun and rain, and the working environment is harsh. Electronic equipment getting wet or severely damp can cause short circuits or even fires, leading to malfunctions or even fires, causing losses.

2. The LED large screen may be attacked by strong electricity and strong magnetism caused by lightning.

3. The area of outdoor LED large screens generally ranges from a few square meters to dozens or even hundreds of square meters. The audience is wide, the viewing distance and field of view are required to be long and wide, and the ambient light changes greatly, especially it may be exposed to direct sunlight, which will affect the display effect.

4. The ambient temperature changes greatly. When the LED screen is working, it will generate a certain amount of heat. If the ambient temperature is too high and the heat dissipation is poor, the integrated circuit may not work properly or even burn out, making the display system unable to work properly; and in winter, the ambient temperature is too low, causing the display system to fail to start.

In view of the above special requirements, matters needing attention in installing outdoor LED large screens:

1.Installing Steel Structure

The design of the steel structure must take into account many factors, including foundation, wind load, waterproof, dustproof, moisture-proof, ambient temperature, lightning protection, surrounding population density, etc. At the same time, auxiliary equipment such as power distribution cabinets, air conditioners, axial fans, lighting, etc., must be placed in the steel structure, as well as maintenance facilities such as horseways and ladders.

Therefore, during implementation, the entire outdoor screen steel structure should have design drawings that have passed the review of the government authorities to ensure the reliability and safety of the entire steel structure.

In addition, the erection of scaffolding is an important part of the steel structure construction process. It is necessary to ensure that the plan has undergone rigorous design calculations and program demonstration before the scaffolding is erected, and to ensure that the site is constructed according to specifications and inspected from time to time to eliminate the safety hazards caused by the erection of the scaffolding.

2.Standardize electricity use

According to the On-site Temporary Electricity Specifications (JGJ46-2005), the construction site must use a three-level distribution system, a TN-S grounding protection system, and a two-level leakage protection system.

During the construction process, we should avoid converting the three-level power distribution into two-level power distribution, the incorrect PE line lead-out position, and the inconsistent repeated grounding position and number, which will pose hidden dangers to safe construction.

3.Waterproof and moisture-proof

Outdoor LED displays are installed outdoors, often exposed to the sun and rain, wind and dust, and in a harsh working environment. Electronic equipment that is wet or severely damp can cause short circuits or even fires, leading to malfunctions or even fires, causing losses;

Therefore, the screen body and the joints between the screen body and the building must be strictly waterproof and leakproof; the screen body must have good drainage measures to drain water smoothly in case of accumulation;

Pay attention to waterproof and moisture-proof. It is worth noting that the minimum protection level (front/back) of outdoor LED display screen is IP65/IP54, which cannot be lower than this protection level.

4.Ventilation and heat dissipation

Outdoor LED display screens should be equipped with ventilation equipment to cool down the screen so that the internal temperature of the screen is between -10℃ and 40℃.

An axial fan is installed on the upper back of the screen to dissipate heat. The outdoor LED display screen will generate a certain amount of heat when it is working. If the ambient temperature is too high and the heat dissipation is poor, the integrated circuit may not work properly or even be burned, making the LED display system unable to work properly.

Use industrial-grade integrated circuit chips with an operating temperature between -40℃ and 80℃ to prevent the large-screen system from being unable to start due to low temperatures in winter.

5.Use high-quality wire

The larger the area of the LED display, the more power it consumes, and the higher the requirements for the power stability of the wire.

Only by using wires that meet national standards can their safety and stability be guaranteed. Among the many wire products, there are three requirements that need to be emphasized: the wire core is a copper wire conductive carrier, the wire core cross-sectional area tolerance is within the standard range, and the insulation and flame retardancy of the rubber wrapping the wire core should meet national standards.

6.Lightning protection grounding

The LED body and casing must have good grounding measures, and the grounding resistance must be less than 3 ohms.

Outdoor LED display screens are also subject to strong electric and magnetic attacks caused by lightning. In order to discharge the large current caused by lightning in time, reduce the overvoltage on the equipment, and limit the lightning intrusion wave, lightning protection devices should usually be installed on the display screen and the building.

The grounding form of the outdoor LED display screen should be considered according to the specific situation: when the display screen is independently set, a separate grounding system should be set up, and the grounding resistance should not be greater than 4 ohms; when the display screen is attached to the outer wall of the building, the display screen body and the shell should be well grounded with the building and share a common comprehensive grounding with the building, and the grounding resistance should not be greater than 1 ohm.

7.Choose the right switchboard

LED outdoor display screens are generally powered by AC220V current, requiring the grid voltage fluctuation to be less than 10% and providing good system grounding. For display screens with power consumption exceeding 10kW, a dedicated power distribution cabinet should be equipped.

In order to prevent fires caused by electric leakage, a fire-proof leakage switch should be installed at the main switch of the power supply line.

The LCD controller monitoring interface in the power distribution cabinet can display the real-time temperature on the display screen. In the automatic state, when the temperature inside the screen exceeds 65 degrees, the monitoring screen will prompt that the temperature is too high, and the LCD controller will sound an alarm, and the system will automatically power off to prevent fire.

Smoke detectors can be installed in the display screen according to actual conditions. When a fire occurs in the screen, there will be corresponding prompt information on the monitoring interface, and the power distribution system will be automatically cut off at the same time.

8.Safety Education

Safety helmets, safety belts and safety nets are the three magic weapons to reduce and mitigate safety construction accidents. At the construction site, the construction unit should require all personnel on site to wear safety helmets correctly.

According to relevant data, the higher the level of workers' safety education and the more complete the safety education system in an enterprise, the lower the probability of safety accidents occurring is than in an enterprise where safety education is just a formality.
